ISO Certification – Teresa Bestwick, Bridgeshire Packaging Ltd
“After unforeseen circumstances with our previous ISO consultants, Scott Keegan from KestrelQAS Ltd started with our organisation in March 2019. Scott was chosen by our organisation out of a possible three and he immediately stood out to all of us with the way he presented himself. I had some experience with our ISO 9001 and 14001, but mainly our consultants did it all for us with ourselves submitting information as and when required.
When Scott joined us, he mainly worked with me as I was the main person for the ISO within our company. From the onset, Scott made it clear he aimed to enable our company to take control of our own ISO standards. With my limited knowledge, I found this very daunting in the beginning, because I had always relied on our consultants to do this complex work for us.
However, Scott had every confidence in me, and at times when I felt I couldn’t do it, he was always there giving me guidance and reassurance. From March to July 2019, Scott got us through our main external audit after a major restructuring of our Integrated Management system.
He helped us streamline all our processes and expanded our IMS manual to include all elements of our organisation, but more importantly, he did this with our full involvement and ensured it was tailored to the way we wanted it to be.
In 2020, the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic was a scary time for all, and our company began remote working and contact. I carried on with the skills Scott had taught me, and he was on hand if help was needed.
In July 2020, our external audit was also completed remotely via Microsoft Teams, between me and the main certifying body, with Scott available via phone if I needed him. I am pleased to say the audit was a complete success with no minors or majors against us.
I was over the moon and still couldn’t believe that within one year I had gone from relying on external providers to achieve our certification to achieving it ourselves. This is all down to my great mentor, Scott Keegan – he has taught me so much and given me the confidence I needed. Scott has said he always knew I could do it, but without his support, I certainly wouldn’t have achieved this.
